If a dead tree falls on my house will my insurance cover the damage?

YOUA SK:WEA NSWER: Yes, particularly if the dead tree fell due to what is called an "act of God" - an event that no one has control over and that has no knowledge will happen. Such is the case if the tree fell because of a heavy wind. The homeowners insurance will usually cover the repairs for the damage on this. Your policy (if it has HO3 coverage) will usually cover damage caused by falling objects, trees included. What can be paid for would be the damage on the roof or any structure covered by your policy. The policy will also pay for the removal of the tree from the structure itself, but it may not pay to have the tree removed from your premises or cleaned up.

Four considerations regarding insurance coverage for sinkholes

Cracks in walls and floors. Slumping fenceposts, foundations and trees. Wilting vegetation. Formation of small ponds. These are all signs that you might have sinkhole damage at your home. In Florida, which has more sinkholes than any other state, state officials have witnessed a spike in "frivolous" property insurance claims for sinkhole damage -- claims that have pumped up premiums for many insurance consumers in the Sunshine State. The Florida saga has shed light across on the country on the issue of sinkholes and insurance. However, most homeowners across the country aren't even covered for sinkhole damage.

California Home Insurance Rates & Quotes

Compare Quotes from Top Providers and Save now! There is a common law doctrine that says “volenti non fit injuria”, which means that a person who voluntarily assumes risk cannot complain about it later. This is the principle behind insurance companies refusing to insure your home if it is located in a high fire risk zone, or a high brush area. Most insurance companies refuse to assume the increased risk of covering areas prone to fires. Homeowners in these areas are finding it increasingly difficult to renew their insurance policies or to buy adequate coverage for their homes.

The most commonly utilizedandmisunderstood aspects of the U. S. Medicaid program are its long-term care (LTC) benefits. Medicaid is not synonymous with long-term care insurance, but many who plan to rely on it are unaware of this. As a result, they find themselves without the care they really need or desire. Before you "plan" to have Medicaid cover your LTC needs, it is important to understand its coverage and how it differs from LTC insurance. (One program is for the poor; the other is for the elderly.
