If you are trying to pay by phone, at least, you need to spend a half day on the line. I was waiting for over 2 hours on the phone to speak to the person. Attitude to the customer is very bad. please do not call them you might lose your half day.

Auto-insurance was 100$ a year or so cheaper with another company even though they offer a 'student discount'. The customer service is terrible as well and they will gouge you in any way possible. I had motorcycle insurance with TD insurance for a couple years but cancelled due to problems cancelling a renters insurance policy. Namely a $69 dollar cancellation fee which I have not encountered with any other insurance company. Would not recommend TD insurance to anyone. Many other companies out there who understand how to treat people to maintain their loyalty. Only tried these fellows due to the 'student discount' which doesn't help much at all.

18 years with TD paid for accident forgiveness , wife had one accident ( First claim on our policy ever) accident was her fault got a minor ticket , had a minor speeding ticket the year before They will now not renew our policy Cause of TD we now have to start over and our rates have sky rocketed. DO NOT BUY TD GENERAL INSURNCE

I called TD today to set up car insurance. The representative was friendly on the phone, although it was clearly only to get information out of me. She asked me about my living situation and I explained i live in a large shared home with 7 roommates, similar to a student housing situation. They insisted that the only way I could insure my car was to have every licensed driver who lived in the home on the policy. They said that the driving record of every licensed driver would affect my premium. I had tried to explain to them that this was absolutely not practical in any way. That i would be the only person in the house that would be driving the car and I cant be responsible for 7 other peoples' driving records. They were having none of this and insisted I send a picture of everyone else's license. I had even explained that there was a possibility that some of my roommates could be moving in and out in the following months and they said it didn't matter. Everyone living there currently had to be on my policy. I think this is absolutely ridiculous. I definitely don't recommend going through TD to anyone who has multiple roommates or a similar living situation, They are going to rob you blind with the excuse that "someone might have to drive it in an emergency"

First I'm going to say is heed the warnings of the other reviews. I have no claims and they cancelled one of my vehicles ,because they deemed it useless , the vehicle has high value after it was appraised. I tried cancelling my other vehicle and all I was grief , I sent two notices in , one by mail which they claim they never received and one by email, and they sending notices . Even you talk to them claim the is active . I don't know how they work in St. Johns , but here in Ontario you send a notice of cancellation it is cancelled. Shop around , I found other insurance companies a lot cheaper . I could if I would have a claim would they pay or maybe they wouldn't , we well never know. So read the reviews and take it to heart.

I have not received my renewal paper from them and they have taken out premium in advance which was higher than my previous amount. They always love to overcharge their customers. I asked them to cancel and they told me that I need to pay a termination fee (though my insurance coverage period is from November 27, 2016 to November 27,2017)!!! In a word, they are a MONSTER. I am planning to cancel all of my accounts with them.

By the look of all these terrible reviews, TD Insurance is one company to stay away from. All I know is, as a body repair person, TD Ins. is at the bottom of the totem pole for the rates they pay to body shops. They lag behind other insurance providers by about 20 years. I wonder where all the money is going that they are saving! I tried to get a response about this issue but it was to no avail. I guess that's par for the course for TD Insurance.

Hello, I have had very bad experience with TD Insurance and very disappointed to see the way Claim Adjuster has misrepresented me by her contradict email. Before giving me any offer rented car or claim amount of money. My car has been salvaged and i came to know about when i have received the letter from Alberta Vehicle Registration. After this incident i have decided to close my account with TD BANK and move on to other BANK. She contradict herself by email. in email she asked me when your are going to repair car otherwise close file and second email asked me accept her offer of money and my car not repairable. She did not notified me about salvage of car, i could not able to go for work. when i decided talk to her Manager, she denied to transfer her call to Manager. she wanted to settle with her offer. she was rude and not respond me by email and phone. I complain to HR department, but i have mental and financial loss because of her misrepresentation.

These TD insurance guys are the worst you can possibly go to. Been with them for over 3 years with clean record and they increased my premium with no explanation. When I called them back, they couldn't give me a reason why!!! I happened to call them at the end of my one year insurance contract so, I asked them to cancel. To keep me with them, they said they will charge me one and half months premiums for cancellation... Leaving them for good...

I've been with TD for over 30 years. I originally was with Liberty Mutual.Insurance for over 10 years. But TD bought them out 20 years ago, so that meant that I went with TD I have NEVER missed a premium payment or been late with one.... NEVER. I had my wife's car, my car and my house with them. Anyway my wife had 2 small accidents in the last 3 years. There were no injuries, no towing involved as these were very minor accidents with superficial damage to vehicle's. They also at first, increased our premiums for these accidents which we expected, and were willing to still pay. But TD in their infinite wisdom, then decided to cancel our auto insurance because of these incidents. How's that for customer loyalty after nearly 35 years?? They have made a ton of money off me over all the years and now because of this they cut me loose. My house insurance is still with them and is due for renewal in a few months, and I will show them the same level of loyalty that they have shown me, which is NO loyalty. I would cancel it now, but they would hit me with an early cancellation charge. You are nothing to TD but dollars, Loyalty means NOTHING to them. If you sign with them expect NONE.

I've been with TD Insurance (underwritten by Primmum) for almost 4 years, since moving to Alberta. Initially, I got a great and affordable quote, but each successive year, with no tickets or accidents of any kind, I see my rates increase by increments of hundreds of dollars. I called them to make some minor changes to my insurance a few weeks back, changing it from commercial to personal use, and notified them of an increase in kilometers driven to/from work. I was expecting to see my rate reduced by quite a bit due to changing to personal/commuter use, but the rep told me I wouldn't save much, and that he could add accident forgiveness to my policy and it would "break even". Well, next thing you know, my rates have increased by yet another 15%, making my annual insurance premiums DOUBLE what they were just 4 years ago - and again, no tickets, suspensions, accidents, nothing. Perfectly clean driving record. So I jumped ship. Found another reputable insurer that quoted me less than TD originally did when I first signed up with them 4 years ago, which will save me about $700 this year. Moral of the story: There are way more affordable insurers out there.

I'd like to start by saying in order to get a 1* rating by me, you'd have to be unprofessional, arrogant, complacent & willing to outright lie to your customer. TD Insurance covers all of those basis. In May of 2016, I was a victim of a wildfire in Fort McMurray, that sadly took my home away & everything I've ever worked hard for. Surprisingly, my car was still standing on the road that I abandoned it on because of police ordering everyone to run on foot, even though everything around it burned. Dealing with TD since has been NOTHING short of a nightmare after another nightmare. There was a misunderstanding in my policy (me thinking I was protected because I was paying for some sort of 1-million dollar coverage) & also a Gold Premium Package. It all sounds reassuring & fancy until you actually need it & it's NOT the kind of coverage you think you're paying for. I was given 1/3rd of what I owned & had an experience over the phone with one of their associates not realizing he didn't hang up on his end, & all I could hear was him belittling myself & my mother with another co-worker in the background. I had vice presidents & a senior manager call to "apologize" but that's all for show, they don't mean it & don't let them fool you into thinking they do. Moving on from my Tenants Policy, now begins my Auto Mobile claim... The associate I was dealing with about my car was calling everyday to give me an update about my vehicle - which was always the same, that it was still waiting to go into the shop but it was in a secured lot & he couldn't get in touch with them to find out more details - until about a week & a half ago when he stopped calling. I'd also like to mention that he asked ME to make phone calls for HIM because he was "extremely busy & wasn't sure when he'd be available to work on my claim." He also mentioned that he & his manager would be working on extending our rental due to the circumstance of the wildfire & the long wait for repair shops. This was all talked about around June 15-20th, somewhere in between that time frame. Just yesterday, July the 3rd, I answered the phone to the company who TD Insurance rented a vehicle for me was calling to tell me that TD stopped paying since the 23rd of June & that I would have to start paying out of my pocket if I wished to keep it longer. I told them my Insurance extended the policy, but they said no phone call was made to them. And so then I called TD Insurance, July 2nd, to find out what was going on. The associate working on my claim explained to me that he was still working with his manager on extending the rental & hasn't gotten an answer back yet. And that he "assumed MY car was taken care of in the shop because myself or the autobody shop didn't call him with updates," so he stopped working on it. I asked to speak with his manager at this point. He told me his manager would try & call me back. I waited 2 hours, no call from him, so I called again. Finally I got the manager on the phone & of course he was arrogant. He wanted to argue with me, not help me, & when told his associate was to blame, he kept repeating, "I fail to see how my associate is to blame. How is this his fault?" I also have a voice mail of the associate apologizing for his mistake, that he should have been on top of it but wasn't & that he would work on getting the rental extended with the help of his manager. The manager also told me that they weren't going to extend it to help us out. Neither of them had plans to call & tell me this, or else I would have returned the rental when it was due to go back so that I wouldn't have another expense. ... They'll treat you with arrogance & talk to you like you're stupid when they make mistakes & won't own up for it. They put crooks in place of managers on purpose to deal with us paying customers, so that finally we will just give up & say it's not worth it anymore. You'll pay them money for a service that they'll try & pass off onto you. And you'll hear constant apologies about mistakes they've made because they decided to take their time with your claims. STAY AWAY... and if you decide to still go through with getting insurance through TD, record every conversation you have with them & let them know that you're doing it so that it's legal. Ask a million questions until you thoroughly understand your policy - & make sure that person doesn't use words like, "I think so," or, "I'm pretty sure," because that's when you know they don't know what they're selling you. Be smarter than these crooks.

I've been with TD Insurance for over 5 years for both my home and auto policies. Recently, I was parked in a grass field at a festival and hit a rut while leaving which bottomed out the front of the car and caused some damage to the front bumper cover and some stuff in behind. Was going to pay out of pocket to get it fixed, but the estimate ended up to be over $3000 (who knew plastic was so expensive)... so I decided to claim it thru TD. I paid my deductible and they had one of their preferred shops fix the damage and provided me with a rental for a week (which was not even comparable to the car I was driving) - Strike #1. The claims process was straightforward but trying to get a hold of the adjuster was like pulling teeth. Seems all calls are screened and are sent directly to voicemail... it would then take 1-2 days for them to bother to call you back - Strike #2. The final straw was the ignorant and rude voicemail I received from one of their agents today that said "Due to your recent $3000 claim, we are not renewing your policy. I suggest you look online for another provider. Goodbye" Keep in mind, my renewal date is July 1st. Thanks so much for the sufficient notice! /sarcasm. I ended up using Kanetix.ca to find another insurer and had a new home and auto policy within 30 minutes which ended up SAVING me over $1000/yr. TD Insurance can be summed up as follows: - Ridiculously expensive - Terrible customer service (rude agents or agents who don't know what they are doing and have to ask a manager for help every 5 minutes) - Ridiculously long hold times when calling in - Rates continuously increase every year with no justification - Insurance adjusters hide behind voicemail STAY AWAY from these crooks

I moved 5 blocks away and my premium went up over $600 a year. How is this possible or even legal? I did an online quote using my new postal code and received quotes more consistent with my previous rates, and TD happened to be the second cheapest provider. So new customers get the real rate and loyal customers of over 5 years get robbed.

I am currently having a terrible experience with TD insurance. I am a new car owner.. only paid my first and last insurance and a lot has happened. money was mistakenly taken from my account ( which was for an important appointment). td lied that i was going to get my money asap, i had appointment cancelled all because of TD. csr has been rude to me, one gave me false information and the manager promised to call me and she never did. TD ruined my week because of a lousy mistake on their end. I really want to escalate this issue and also search for a new auto insurance company. its been such a horrible experience.

I just received my 2 Auto renewals and 1 motorcycle for 2016-2017. I didn't get any policy renewal sent to me for one auto and this one went up $471 this year with no claims. The other 2 went up $120 each. When I called customer service I waited over 1 hr for an agent. He informed me rates went up due to the general # of claims paid out last year. I asked for an explanation of how this can be translated to a $471 increase on 1 vehicle. There was no explanation. Basically the message was "so sad, too bad". I informed the CSR I was a long time customer of over 20 years with no claims since 2011. I would be looking for quotes on this business and probably move my account to another company. It seemed not to matter.

Right now, I am on the phone waiting for an agent for more than 1 hour while I am writing this review. at the beginning they are asking whether I am an existing customer or new customer and after getting the information that I am an existing customer they make me wait more than a hour and I am still waiting. And no information about how long I will be waiting more. Worst customer service I have ever seen.

After years of using TD insurance (never had a claim) they decided to cancel my policy. They gave me less than a week notice. When I called they couldn't give me a straight answer as to why my policy was cancelled. They told me to Google another insurance company. (This was of course after waiting on hold for a long time) But of course they kept taking their payments out of my bank account. I had to keep calling and asking for a refund while they tried to sell me another policy????? I'm glad I never had a claim. What a nightmare. Never use td auto insurance!

After being with TD Insurance for almost 20 years, I can't wait to say good bye. With the move to another area of Ontario, my premiums for home & auto have increased by about $300 annually. I can accept that, but now they want 2 months payment up front on the day I move. It's a rip off!!!!

Yes....that's right....50% for motorcycle insurance. Was $1,200 last year for a 2000 stock electraglide....then when my renewal came in....it was $1,800 for the same bike. Riding for over 37 years.... no tickets....and one accident in 2008. ...and I know from a home fire claim....that they will nickel and dime you...ignore you...deny you....and put you on the back burner. For me...no more TD.

I have only been a TD customer for a few years with a clean record. Last year (2015) I had a claim after an animal hit and this year my husband had a accident and wrote off his car. The claim and payout was fairly quick but then they refused to insure the replacement car. Its a 2011 crown vic - former police car. I have been fighting with them for 4 days over this and today got told to look around for another insurance company just in case as there is no guarantee they will insure it even after jumping through all their hoops.

I paid my premiums on time every month for years. When I had to make a small claim it turned into a nightmare very fast. It start with taking 4 days to get a hold of my adjuster just to be passed to someone else who also never picked up his phone. After a week I finally had my vehicle in the garage. The adjuster needed to go to the shop to approve additional work. Which took him 1 day to go out. To top it all off, I phoned to get a rental car and they said I did not have coverage. I'm pretty sure having a brand new car I won want rental car coverage and all the bell and whistles. It seems that when I switched from my older vehicle to my new one someone forgot to add their grand tourism (or whatever) package. So, no rental and a vehicle that has been out of use for a week because td people do not answer the phone or return calls. I recently switch to sharp insurance and never have been happier. I got a lower rate and they have super short wait times to talk to people and a smartphone app that is handy. Beware of td

I see so many complaints of how they were jerked because of accidents and claims. But wait what about me?. Absolutely no claims,no tickets,no accidents for 10 years with this company and this year they raised it by 25%, yes you read it right 25%. Never ever go with TD for any of their products. I will go without a car if I have to but will not renew and never in my life have anything to with TD insurance or TD bank of TD group, TOTALLY DUMB. By the way why can't I give a negative no star rating here ? makes no sense.

DO NOT USE TD INSURANCE!!!!!!! Driving home from the grocery store on the highway to my house a guy blew a stop sign and tried making a left hand turn in front of me. wrote off both of our vehicles and he was arrested for reckless endangerment. He was 100% at fault and my vehicle was only 6 months old. when we bought the vehicle we made sure we had replacement value, meaning we get a new vehicle equal to or better than what we had even if it was my fault. Now td is trying to take my $50,000.00 SUV and write me a check for $33,000.00 ON A 6 MONTH OLD SUV! trying to saddle me with almost $20,000.00 in debt plus I still have to go and get a new vehicle. They are disgusting crooks and as soon as everything is settled I will be switching to any other insurance company.

Long term TD customer,they gladly take your money, until you have a claim. No fault rear ended at red light over 3 months ago, claim still not settled. Adjuster moves very slowly and borders on rude. When this claim is FINALLY settled, will be moving on to another company. Poor customer service when you need it!

I got a quote of a bundled insurance (auto and condo) before I was purchasing my car. A fortnight later, I called in to inform TD that I would be taking possession of the condo soon and I'd like to give them my bank information. To my astonishment, the final quote was around 200$ more than the initial one. I expressed my frustration with the customer service person. The person was all understanding and asked me to send in a retroactive cancellation application, promising there wouldn't be any fees. I work in risk management so I found this a happy surprise. With this promise from TD, I gladly sent in the document and called Lapersonal for a lower quote. Several days later, I got two mails from TD. One telling me that my Condo insurance had been successfully cancelled, the other telling me I had to pay for my auto insurance in full. Confused, I resent my document to TD asking them to verify since it was a cancellation for two policies. A few days later, I got a mail from TD saying the auto insurance was cancelled, but I had to pay $180+ . I didn't even save that much money from switching to Lapersonal. So I called in customer service again asking for an explanation. They told me what I had thought they would do when I asked about the cancellation: the $180+ was for the period from the inception of the policy to the date I sent in the cancellation. I WAS TOLD QUITE DIFFERENTLY BY THE TIME THE PERSON INSTRUCTED ME TO CANCEL THE POLICY. The customer service told me to write down that I really wanted to cancel the policy and send the LaPersonal proof of insurance to them. I did so right away. A few days later I received another bill. This time the money I "OWED" was $197.58! Not only nothing had been done to resolve the problem, I was charged interest!! This is the worst experience I've had with any insurance company. What I experience is 100% fraud, once during the initial quoting period once during the cancellation. I'm seeking all the ways I can to have this bill write off but I don't have all the time in the world. Avoid this dishonest company at all cost.

Just had mine go up 178$ a year. Phoned in and the representative tells me to drop comprehensive to save 700$ I say no and at the same time he is telling me my car is only worth 2000$ yet they are charging me 700$ a year comprehensive, you would think they would lower that rate to a more reasonable amount like 400$ a year. What a joke this company is.

I've been a five year lisenced insured driver with TD for five years now. And I have no get ten any decreases at all. My policy renewal has went up almost 400.00. I've never had any claims and never missed a payment. Other companies have quoted me at 110 to 120. Offering same as TD just my policy date was just around the corner and didn't have time to switch. Just don't feel like they are offering me there best services. I have one 2010 Kia Sportage and have to pay 2300 premium.. Wow is all I can say.. I know people who have two drivers and pay way less than that on a brand new vehicle.

Well here we are , new year and a new insurance policy. Apparently TD has taken over Primmum Insurance who I had my insurance with last year, and guess what, they jacked it up $330.00 which is a 34% increase from last year. I am 56 years old, I have had my motorcycle licence since I was 16, that's 40years, no accidents, no claims, my bike is 12 years old. So looks like I'm switching to Intact Ins. this year, they have the best rate for me

I I had my 2009 cobalt ss stolen from my house I am with td insurance I filed my police report did all the nessasary paper work. I had car rental coverage no problems getting a car rental. I found my own car ditched down the road from my house the next day waited 4 hours for police to show. My car was towed to accodomy towing and put in there yard. Only damage my car had was a driver's side window that's it . The toe company never covered my window it was exposed to rain and snow and ruined the interior and all my electrical components in my car. I waited 2 weeks never heard a thing from td insurance I was not allowed to access my car at the tow yard until the police released it. It took so long I had to call sheriff office myself to get released. My car had more damage then when it was stolen. Finally td insurance contacted me saying a adjuster was looking at my car and it was going to Steele Chevrolet to be fixed. I have till this day 2 months later have not heard anything about my car. I even was put under criminal investigation over stealing my own car I have been paying off for 4 years which went no where because there's nothing to put me in the wrong over my cell phone records and my alibis where I was when my car went missing. I recently had to take my car rental back still with no
car of my own and got charged over $500 for the car rental. I believe that this is the worst service that has costed me my job my apartment and my own vehicle that I still have no idea what's going on if it's going to get fixed or there just going to send me another bill after paying full coverage to Td insurance for 4 years. I would recommend to cancel any insurances you have with td insurance and if you have had a car stolen get a lawyer to look after your claim they will just screw your life over because it's hard to have a job with no vehicle and having to waste your own time and money dealing with td insurance. I hope no one goes thru this and that you cancel td insurance and get a company like co-operators insurance that will actually be behind you and take care of you like they should. Td insurance is the worSt insurance company you can have by my experience with them.

I am dissatisfied and extremely disappointed with the lack of service that I have been receiving with TD insurance and I would not recommend them to anyone. I was stopped at a red light on November 6th when a roll of truck rolled back. The 2 beams of the truck crushed my hood and my window and if it wasn't for my fast thinking; I jumped out of the car, I could have been crushed as well. I jumped out of the car and started yelling at the driver that his truck was rolling back. TD called me on December 1st and advised me that my car would be ready and drove from Woodbridge to Mississauga to pick it up and when I arrived at the Shop I noticed the engine light that comes on. The 10,000 pounds that crushed my car also damaged the internal cam shaft of my car and now it is leaking. I have been told by the shop that TD will not be covering for this damage!! My car was running perfectly before the accident and NOW TD does want to pay for full coverage. In addition to my near death experience, I have been told by TD that my policy has a $1000.00 NO FAULT DEDUCTIBLE, which I had no idea that my policy had. I was thought to believe that $1000.00 would be charged to me when the accident is AT MY FAULT. Four weeks have passed and I'm left with a $1000.00 bill plus $1,000's more to fix the cam shaft and the leaking through the head gasket! I have been in contact with some lawyers and the local media to bring this matter to everyone's attention and to help others who are left with $1000.00 bill. I cannot believe the multi million dollar company is taking full advantage of the consumer!!

I called to get a quote about insuring another car and driver. I was given a rate of 2725 for two cars. When I called the next day to go forward with the insurance, they gave me a rate that was $200 dollars more even though there was a note left stating the quote was 2725. The guy over the telephone told me that the person giving me the quote might have made a mistake and that he would have to listen to our conversation from Saturday and find the mistake and "penalize" the guy. The guy tried to blame it on me by saying I might have given the wrong information, however I had given exact and accurate information on both phone calls. All the guy could have said on the phone was "sorry maybe the other guy made a mistake"

Recently TD Car Insurance has been taking my car insurance out ONE DAY earlier than stated on their policy that I agreed to. I forgot about catching those pricks earlier by one day before my actual car insurance came out, and low and behold, it came out ONE DAY EARLIER AGAIN. This time they check mate me. I "missed" it and than they charged me 48$ and said the car insurance would try and come out between 2-5 business days again. I deposited the money into the account where automatic with drawls come out of. Two days later we receive a letter in the mail stating it would come out on OCT 1ST 2015 and that ANOTHER 25$ admin fee would come out NEXT car insurance payment date (not this one), not the original 2-5 days, but 9 more days (sick bastards) they know how I deal with my online banking and that ALL my bills come out on the 1st of every month, so they were hoping I would forget to transfer fees from my other bank to this account. Anyways OCT 1ST and what do they do? They pull out the 25$ ADMIN FEE and than they pull out my car insurance, hoping I would not catch it (the 25$ fee) so that they could charge me ANOTHER 48$ (because they were not suppose to take out that 25$ fee until next car payment) You need to be careful with TD. They are sneaky sob's, and they watch how you bank, and get to know you as a person through your online banking, to ding you for fee's. Paying an overdraft fee monthly and or having overdraft is pretty much a payment to keep them off of your bank. There the mafia, that pay analysts to watch your every move so they know when they can ding you with fees. RUN AWAY FROM THEM WHILE YOU CAN!!!

They wouldn't touch me with a ten foot pole cause I wanted a wood stove. So I said fine, I will use heat pumps. But I was not happy I couldn't do this at least as a secondary heating source. Wood stoves are fine if properly installed (WET certified )and cleaned yearly. Then I wanted insurance for our daycare, but we have a secured above ground pool. NOPE! TD doesn't insure anyone with a pool and a small daycare. Wait...what? If the pool is 100% secured to their liking why not? Cause they just want your money with little to no risk. Completely unproffessional on the phone. One lady was even annoyed that I had a new driver in the house that wasn't noted on the policy yet. Sheesh...sorry! I will be moving away from this company, I can only imagine what a claim would be like getting done. No thanks.

Yes premium prices are one of the lowest out there, but apparently for a reason. A nightmare to deal with on all of my claims, frequently puts rates up with no explanation or reason (after being on hold for 30 minutes they cant even explain why except changes to market etc etc). Having a terrible time dealing with my physiotherapy right now, will be changing companies as soon as things are resolved. As with other people, if there was a no star option for Customer Service and especially Claim Service I would use it.

The insurance is well priced and the customer service is good however this company hit a nerve with me today. They have double billed me with 7 day refund times, sent my mail to the wrong house and messed up billing. After all this they denied me insurance today (after 3 years with TD) for a missed payment that happened 2 years ago, even though at the time (I was a student) I had called and explained I needed 48 hours more as I was delayed I'm getting my loan. Everything continued as normal and today, 2 years and 4 months after this missed payment they decide not sell me insurance as I don't fit their company criteria anymore..wow TD.. It's a good thing we don't hold you to the same standards you hold us. I should have switched providers the time you accidentally billed my visa $344 instead of saying 'hey mistakes happen'.

As with most of the other reviewers here, I had a horrible experience with TD Insurance. I had snowmobile insurance with them in the past. I got insurance for a new snowmobile I purchased in late October of 2014. I paid $581 in full for a 1 year policy. I sold the snowmobile in early February of 2015 as it was not what I wanted. I called to cancel my snowmobile insurance the day after I sold it. I had the TD insurance for a total of 111 days. Therefore, I should have gotten a pro-rated amount of $404 back. Instead TD Insurance informed me that they would return only $180 of my $404. They cited that their internal policy is to pro-rate snowmobile insurance higher in the winter because you are only really using it in the winter. What? The two people I spoke with at TD both admitted to me that there was nothing explaining this so-called "internal policy" in the policy documents sent to me...only one vague reference to "unearned portion of the premium" They said that if they allowed everyone buying snowmobile insurance to get the pro-rated amount back, everyone would simply get snowmobile insurance in December and cancel it in April. But, I told them I sold the snowmobile and would provide proof of that. They did not care. I could see a $50 admin charge or something like that, but they simply ripped me off for $224 because they know no one will go to small claims court for that amount. Basically, my experience with TD Insurance is that these guys will make up the rules to suit themselves. What do you think would happen with an insurance company like this if you have a claim??? I will never let TD Insurance insure anything I own.

I called twice for getting a new quote because I am going to move in April. For the first time I called, the new quote is double of my current rate, even the new location is only one block away. But the one who answered my call was pretty nice, he said he's not going to change anything at the moment, and told me to go shop around first since they raise a lot and I still have time. However, some friends recommended me to call again because the guy might mess up my quote. For the second time I called, the experience is horrible. At the beginning, the guy told me to call again since the quotation will not be accurate because it is more than 30 days. I had to tell him what happened before like begging him to do me a favor, then he started to do my quote. Then he gave me the same quote like the first time, and be like your previous premium is cheap because of our system error since I lived in north of Ontario before. I moved to Toronto for few years already, and I moved for like 2 or 3 times, now you're telling me all of these got system error. Ridiculous. And he instantly raise my premium of renewal, even I received the renewal notice letter like few weeks ago. I am totally gonna cancel TD insurance.

Here's a cautionary tale. TD sent me my slips after setting up automated payments for a new auto policy for two drivers and three vehicles. All good, or so I thought. But an error took place in entering my banking information. They mailed a letter (regular mail) that I didn't open - my bad. Then they cancelled my policy without me knowing. Their bad. When I discovered the situation, they said they mailed twice, and phoned and left messages twice. That sounded fishy because this is not the kind of voice-mail one would forget. And when I looked up my voice-mails on the dates recorded in their files - there were no messages from them. Not only that, they told me that I was now not able to restore coverage with them because I'd been cancelled for non-payment. And not just with them, because that black mark went against my file with every other insurance company. They put me in a really tight spot with that - and they were brutally inflexible about it across multiple phone calls over a period of 24 hours. The cost for me of not opening that envelope has been in the thousands: car rentals, selling off vehicles, shifting to a company car, getting my wife re-insured in a hurry under another carrier. But it could have been much, much worse had I had an accident while driving (unknowingly) without insurance. (Even the fine if you're caught driving an uninsured vehicle is $5000 ). Weeks later, I complained through TD's facebook page. To their credit they looked into it and did promptly offer to reinstate my insurance and remove the non-payment flag from my file. I did appreciate those small gestures. But had they done the right thing in the first place, they would have tracked me down before canceling me over a keystroke error: Registered mail, courier, even a real phone call to a real phone number would have been appropriate contact strategies given what was at stake for any auto insurance customer. And when I called in - they could have handled my situation very very differently. I might not write a protest song and post it on Youtube, but I'll sure never look at that brand the same way again. Their homepage advertises "a simple way to protect the ones you love." Nice words. Nice words.

Was TD client for 12 years. All that time my insurance went down. And this year it went up 40$ for no reason at all. For many years TD was a good choice for insurance. Not anymore. So you will be loosing my dad's insurance (went up as well), my house insurance and my car insurance. "Thank you" for great service.

By tomorrow I will be leaving TD Auto Insurance as they are terrible. Customer Service is ridiculous and not customer friendly. They can only touch your file once per day so if you need to do two things, ex: find a quote on another car you are thinking of adding and also trying to activate your insurance or stop your policy. They can only do one, not both...Second, like many people have written, they tell you different things from one rep to the next and even with the same rep on the same day saying so many different and contradictory things (ex: you have to act now and I won't be able to call back because of the high volumes today so if you have to call in you will probably get someone else. But then saying he can call you the next day)...Or increasing it by $60 dollars and then saying it's "small thing". Claim service like people said, you have to push to start and process through (I had hit black ice last year). And the list goes on. Their rates go up even with no claim. I tried State Farm and TD and both were horrible in the past 5 years. State Farm was better than TD but they too increase their rates when they feel like it every 6 months or so. Any recommendations for Auto Insurance??

I have been insured with the company for 14 years and got into an accident 3 weeks ago where I knew my car would be written off. The accident happened Friday evening so I called Saturday before noon to declare the accident. I spent a good 30 minutes on the phone with the lady taking my statement and telling me to go get a rental car they were going to pay for. She said once I talked with my adjuster (which was suppose to call me at the beginning of the next week) I would either keep the rental until the settlement if I was covered for a rental and if not that I would simply return it but they would still pay for the time I had the rental. After not hearing from the adjuster for almost a week I called for him to ask me why I had waited a week to de claret the accident.????? I had to push to get things moving and they didn't even bother telling me the settlement (which they did with the lender) 3 weeks later. Now they are refusing to pay for the rental car I've had for a week ($216) which I would have never got if they had not told me to and asoured me they were paying and they tell me that they have no ecru of me calling to declare the accident so are basically accusing me of lying???? Half the people I talked to were nice and the other half was really rude!!! I would rather pay double with another company than to deal with them or give them another penny.

Even if you are not insured with TD Insurance you may unfortunately need their service if an impaired driver hits your car is insured with them! This happened to me couple of months ago. I had a minor collision which needed some body work. TD appraiser, after 5 minutes of inspection, decided that my car (which didn’t make yet 160,000 km) should be totalled. The adjuster tried to scare me with all his might about keeping my salvaged car (and the expenses involved in bringing back to the road) but I insisted on it. They paid me as little as they could. It is somewhat a hassle to bring it back to the road a written off car but I managed to repair it at an inexpensive body repair shop and to pay for the expensive inspection ($450) from the settlement money of TD insurance, with no need to add anything out of pocket. About 7 years ago I had the same scenario with another insurance company who wanted to total my car for the same reason (the repair would cost more than car value). When I refused to give away my car we settled for a smaller amount of money, they didn’t write off the car, and I got refunded for car rental, and didn’t need to go thru the hassle of inspection to bring it back on the road. Why is TD Insurance company so eager to total cars? They can repair them and resale them, and make good money. Also, TD insurance agreed to pay for only 3 days (!) car rental and not for the whole period of negotiation and settlement, because (they said) it’s a salvage car. So, we think we know all the tricks of insurance companies, but each time you learn something new about the level of their expertise in squeezing more money from the public. By the way, when the inspection person took a look at my damaged car he laughed upon seeing how TD insurance tried to have a steal deal from the potential resale of it. If this car was considered “salvage” then probably 50% of the vehicle on the road should be salvaged as well.

I switched to TD auto insurance just two months ago and am already done with this company to not fault but their own. Apparently I failed to send all documents needed and received a letter this past Friday that my policy was canceled as of today. How nice to give me two day notice. The letter stated they made numerous attempts to get a hold of me and were unsuccessful. I needed to simply fax two documents which I did. Apparently they received one and not the other. Without contacting me over this simple matter they cancel my policy? I called them and the woman said it was indeed over that tiny mishap and to fax the letter the following day and they would fix the matter. I refuse to deal with a company who treats me like this. The very next day I called up a different company and am actually saving $75/month. I simply faxed the two documents needed and poof had an agreed insurance policy with a new company. If only TD had actually contacted me before canceling the policy since I clearly had the documents they needed. I won't ever choose TD for anything, Ever.

I called TD's insurance, got a competitive quote, and applied for the insurance at the same day I bought my car. Three weeks later without hearing from them, I called again and I was informed that I am going to receive it in few days. I received in few days a letter from them asking for further documents that they didn't ask for from the start. I sent them the documents and I called them later to be informed by someone that because it is summer time, paper work is finished slowly and if I don't like it I can look for a broker!! Now because of them my car has been parked for two months now waiting for TD's mercy and I regret that I wasted my time with them. With the calls I made to this company I realize now how unwelcoming, and uncommitted to the time and to customers they are. My advise is that don't let their low prices get you to apply for their insurance.

I had an accident where an impact (verified by mechanic) caused my rad to leak and engine to burn out. T.D. refused to settle and dragged out the claim for months. Christina (adjuster) talked with me twice. Other staff were rude hard nosed and dishonest. Met with "Keith" an investigator who said a "denied claim will result in facility insurance" and intimidated me. I withdrew my claim and later thought that I would still want to purse it. On being contacted by Keith he simply yelled "fraud fraud" into the phone and insisted on a police report after the fact (no such a thing -there are accident reporting centers that you must report to in 48 hours -I had reported mine directly after the fact to T.D. Do not insure your car there - they apparently do not pay out a lot of claims (I am out 3000 for new engine, repairs to rad travelling and hotel-all supposed to be covered by T.D. P.S. claims dept ONLY calls or not taped-BEWARE.

I have been with TD for 2 years only. They had the best rates so I signed up with them. However, after one at fault accident which I got a ticket for they refused to renew my policy. I've never had claims before nor tickets. It was a one time mistake that I made and they dropped me. Because they refused to renew my policy, no other insurer would take me except facility insurance companies the high risk ones. I went from paying $1430 a year to $4200. I am 27 years old and can barely afford this. Your company is in the claims business you must expect people to make mistakes. I only made one and you ruined my record! Never in my life I am going back to TD!

I've been with TD auto insurance for 20+ years and had a 'minor accident' (their words) more than 4 years ago. Today I got a letter saying my insurance policy will not be renewed because they just pulled up my file now. After calling the company, they refused to reason with me and kept saying there was nothing they could do. I've been paying them 500 dollars a month for two cars and I was still loyal to this company. Worst mistake I've ever made. Should have listened to friends and family when they told me to switch companies. Horrible treatment of customers, does not value loyalty, and company policies are ridiculous.

Having had my auto insurance jump 29.3% I thought that I'd ask why. I did not get an honest or accurate answer. I was told that it was "probably" because my policy was bundled with other peoples policies (a form of "group" insurance) that have had substantial claims. I also asked FSCO (Financial Services Commission of Ontario) to look into the matter and they couldn't even get an answer. Bottom line: According to TD, the government has apparently allowed them to raise my rates without cause or justification (at least not explainable to me or FSCO). I would have been a lot happier if they were at least truthful with the matter. As such I'm looking elsewhere. And don't get me started with their home insurance either (that one I'm cancelling). Otherwise, their rates aren't astronomical nor cheap - about average plus in my opinion. So much for good treatment and honesty after being on the same policy for over 20 years (even with a clean license and no claims in the last 15+ years).

Be prepared for long wait times and for someone to tell you something completely different everytime you call! This is, by far, the worst experience I've had. And expect lots of attitude from the representatives and to be hung up on when you ask to speak to a manager. Also, don't expect any call backs from them when they say they will. They just want to finish the call with you and never hear from you again.

I have been with this company for several years with no accidents. Then 1 had 3 accidents in 2013 - 1 was a minor one that was my fault; absolutely no damage to my vehicle and only scratches to other vehicle; the second accident happened in a gas station parking lot where it was clearly the other driver's fault as he was not paying attention; he tried to get me to not go through insurance and to go to his cousin's mechanic which looked shady (I checked it out) so I did not do. This ended up in a 'he said she said scenario' and they put it at my fault. The 3rd incident occurred as I was driving to North Bay and just around Deep River a driver driving the other way started to come over the centre and at 100 km an hour was coming head on to me, I had to swerve to avoid the car and ended up in the ditch with damage.
